NorTech Welcomes New Board Members and Vice Chairman

NorTech, Northeast Ohio’s technology based economic development organization today announced the appointment of eight new directors to the NorTech Board of Directors. NorTech also named Thomas Strauss, President and Chief Executive Officer of Summa Health Systems, Vice Chairman of the NorTech Board. Strauss takes over for Thomas Waltermire who resigned his Vice Chairman position in March to accept a new role as Chief Executive Officer of TeamNEO.

Newly elected 2006 members include:

Thomas I. Bradshaw, Chief Executive Officer, Ricerca Biosciences
Anita P. Campbell, Chief Executive Officer, Small Business Trends
Michael S. Garvey, Chief Executive Officer, M7 Technologies
Catherine C. Haworth, Director, Lake County Economic Development Center
James J. Mazzella, Chief Operating Officer/Founder, Five Star Technologies
Denise Reading, Ph.D., President, Corporate College
Eric L. Small, President and Chief Executive Officer, SBK Brooks Investment Corporation
Thomas N. Tyrrell, Chairman and Managing Director, Glengary LLC

Peter Broer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lumitex; Philip Alexander, President and Chief Executive Officer of BrandMuscle; and Yannis Tsavalas, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Eaton Corporation were also elected to the NorTech Board at the group’s annual meeting this past February. The new Board appointments fill all previous open seats and complete the Board roster for 2006.

The NorTech Board is a diverse group of fifty business leaders that includes the presidents of universities and colleges, the director of NASA Glenn, CEOs and CTOs of major corporations, entrepreneurs from small- and medium-sized technology companies, capital providers, professional service providers, and leaders from various chambers, intermediaries, and foundations. The Board works closely with NorTech’s Technology Resource Council and staff to align and leverage Northeast Ohio’s technology assets to build a globally competitive regional economy for the benefit of all citizens.
